Cheaper Than Therapy Challenges #10!!

Wow, we have hit the 10th challenge!! How cool is that!  And to celebrate we have a extra special treat

This week we are doing a sketch/colour challenge from the clever girls at ‘The Colour Room’.  This gorgeous sketch by Lydell Quin and the soft feminine colours will make for some beautiful layouts I am sure.

Here is a closer look at the layout sketch:

I just love the presentation of sketches by these talented girls, the palette is beautiful and so inspiring.

If you are interested in playing along but don’t want to do a scrap layout, Lydell also has a card sketch to match:

Can’t wait to see our creations Rach n Maree!

Cheaper Than Therapy Challenge Creation #9

This weeks Challenge was a bit scary to start with, I don't really remember using Tangerine Tango that much.  The more I thought about it, the scared-er-er I got so I decided to just look for photos that would suit the colours and JUST DO IT.....and this is the result using the 'Creative' Colour Combo of Tango, Olive and Turquoise:

I have used the retired Ginger Blossom paper pack, Scallop Circle punch to make the flowers and Fire Rhinestones plus Flower brads for the flower centres and tabs.

Once I had finished that one, I was on a bit of a roll so I decided to play with the other colour combo of Tango, Pacific Point and Saffron - the 'Sweet Set' combo. I managed to find more photos and came up with this layout:

I have used the 'Haiku' paper pack, with Pacific Point Patterns paper and striped ribbon - all retired products. There is also a little bit of 'Celebrations paper thrown in for the tabs. I have used flower brads and clips assortment as the hardware on the flower and tab embellishments.

So now I am a bit obsessive compulsive about fitting as many photos on the sketch 'photo space' as I possibly can and I have a new appreciation of Tangerine Tango.

I can't wait to see what Rach and Maree have created for this challenge.  Have a great week everyone xoxo

Cheaper Than Therapy Challenge - Creation #8

I was a bit liberal with my interpretation of the sketch this week:

I have been finding lots of photos secreted away that I have had every intention of scrapping but just never quite got there....so I used enlargements I discovered plus extras to create this page, so it has a little more on it than the sketch would initially indicate!!!  I hope you like it xox

I am sure Rach and Maree will have created another inspiring layout, so why don't you pop over and see.  Have a great week and Challenge #9 will be up tomorrow.

Cheers, Adele xoxo

Cheaper Than Therapy Challenge Creation #7

This weeks challenge was to use the SU colours Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Early Espresso and Pacific Point with this sketch from Scrapbook etc:

I was thinking I would struggle with this challenge.......so instead of thinking about it I just did it - I am finding that really works for me.....and this is what happened....

I am just having the best time with these challenges, I love being pushed to use colours I would normally not and having the inspiration from the sketches is wonderful.  It is satisfying to see what is created when a great sketch gives you a starting point for placement with the flexibility to change elements as I have done here by having 2 collage photo mats instead of just one as in the sketch (I scrap more photos that way!!!)

I know that Rach and Maree will have produced somnething fabulous this week, they always do and that is a great part of these challenges too - to share what we love to do with our friends. Thankyou my lovely friends for the constant inspiration you are to me xoxo

Tomorrow we are up to Challenge #8 - come see what we get up to next! Have a great week xoxo

Cheaper Than Therapy Challenge #7

This week we have selected another Colour combination to get the creative juices flowing, this is a combo that Stampin’ Up! recommend to their demonstrators. We have once more coupled these great colours with a sketch layout – this time from the Better Homes & Gardens "Scrapbook etc" magazine in the US.

We will be working with the colours – Pear Pizzazz, Real Red, Early Espresso and Pacific Point

Here is the sketch:

Again, we have stipulated for the challenge that the creation should be a scrapbook layout, which I guess is obvious but if you put your mind to it you could turn this sketch into a card....think about it!
These challenges are one sure way to get those photos prettified and scrapped away and I am having the best time.
Can’t wait to see what we all come up with this week Rach n Maree!

Challenge #6 Take Two.....

I got a bit keen with this one, seeing as my Cajun creation turned out alright....so I had a go at the 'Getting Started' colour combo of Marina Mist, Real Red and Old Olive.  This is the result, I hope you like it too:

Extra photos squished into this one, thats what I love about sketches - the freedom to play around and change elements to suit your style and needs at the time. Enjoy, have a great week and pop on over to the wonderful blogs of Rach and Maree, and see what they have been busy creating. It will be worth the hop xox

Cheaper Than Therapy Challenge - Creation #6

Well, this challenge proved to be a bit more challenging than I first thought - because I decided to take on the ' Creative Combo' colours of Marina Mist, Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze! Just plain CRAZY would be more like it.....as a reminder this is the sketch we threw in as well -

Anyway this is what I came up with using the wonderful Becky Fleck's layout sketch above and the Creative colour combo:

I really do like how this has turned out, once I got past being a tad daunted by the colours!!  The title of the layout has a shadow effect, shown to me by the very talented Maree - vanilla letters are layered on Cajun ones but slightly to one side forming a shadow - so cool I just had to do it again, even though it is hard to tell in the photo. Thanks for the inspiration Maree xoxo

I can't wait to blog hop on over to see the gorgeous creations Rach and Maree have to share, come on along for the ride. Have a great week and there will be a new challenge posted tomorrow so don't forget to stop by and see what we have set for us this week.

cheers, Adele

Cheaper Than Therapy Challenge - Creation #5

Here comes the Green Machine.....sorry went for the Raiders when Brad Clyde played, apologies!

This weeks challenge was a sketch challenge but with a twist - we were each allocated a colour to produce a 'Monochromatic' layout. I was given GREEN which I initially thought woud be fine but then I kind of got stuck. Anyway it all turned out in the end...especially when I put photos on the pages...I liked it MUCH better.  Here is my creation in all it's greenness:

I have used Wild Wasabi 12x12 cardstock, Certainly Celery stripes and word patterns, Wild Wasabi stripes, both from the Subtles Paper Stack. The circle is Old Olive cardstock, as is the strip under the ribbon and the photo mount on the circle is Certainly celery cardstock. The other photos are all mounted on Always Artichoke cardstock.  The ribbon is the retired Wild Wasabi striped ribbon from 2 years ago.  The title is Artichoke on Celery using the Timeless Type alpha dies for the Big Shot.

So I pretty much used every Green in the book, although poor old Garden Green an Pear Pizzazz didn't get a guernsey on this one....maybe next time!  But not for a while!!!

Hop on over the see what Rach has done with her colour - Browns - and to Maree to see what she has done with Blues.

Drop in tomorrow to see what our next Challenge will be. Have a great week xoxo

PS - I love these challenges, I am getting sooo much scrapping done! It's fantastic xo
